Position: RF Engineer III / Senior RF Engineer

Location: Auburn, NH

Level: Advanced/Non-Manager

 

Position Overview:

C Squared Systems is currently seeking an experienced Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must possess strong technical aptitude, be comfortable working in high pressure situations, and manage their assigned responsibilities while working on multiple projects concurrently. The candidate will regularly interact with customers and co-workers and must effectively communicate timely and detailed updates. The successful candidate will manage/lead/support a variety of RF projects and should understand the best practices for any given situation. This position will require approximately 15% field and 85% office work, including occasional/infrequent off-site assignments that could extend up to a week or longer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform RF testing on commercial 5G NR, 4G LTE, and legacy 3G UMTS/CDMA systems as well as Public Safety/LMR systems using scanners, spectrum analyzers, test transmitters, and other test and measurement equipment;
  • RF propagation modeling and network simulations;
  • RF zoning support – prepare/review coverage and capacity modeling in support of the local permitting application process, participate in evening public presentations;
  • Independently manage projects and lead/mentor junior engineers assisting with the associated project tasks.
  • Macrocell and DAS design;
  • Wireless system performance optimization;
  • RF Exposure Studies and FCC compliance verification;
  • Intermodulation and Interference Analysis;
  • Hands on exposure to system components such as antennas, coax, and RF transmitters and receivers;
  • Maintain test equipment and tools for on-demand use;
  • Work on multiple projects in parallel;
  • Prepare written reports for customers and third-party clients; 

Requirements:

  • B.S degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, with 10 years of related work experience;
  • Strong understanding of RF principles/theory (Signal Path, Power, Frequency, Noise, Modulation, etc.);
  • Ability to independently research and comprehend technical matters, and effectively share the knowledge with other team members to develop practical procedures and solutions;
  • Strong grasp of various wireless technologies (NR, LTE, UMTS, CDMA, etc.);
  • Prior experience with RF propagation modeling tools (Atoll, Planet, Pathloss etc) and GIS Mapping tools/software (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS, etc);
  • Effective written/oral communication and organizational skills, fluency in English;
  • Ability to quickly grasp, understand, and explain technical topics/procedures, and ask questions when unclear;
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills;
  • Self-motivated to learn and advance within a technical field;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to/from the workplace;
  • Previous experience with RF devices and/or systems, include indoor/outdoor DAS;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
