Senior Electrical Engineer 
Location: Macon, GA

 

Job Summary:

A Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for performing, directing, and supervising all aspects of Electrical Engineering on multi-discipline building design projects of moderate to large scope for commercial, municipal, university and government facilities. 

You Have:

  • Graduate of a 4 or 5-year engineering program that is ABET-accredited (Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering Technology)
  • Fully licensed Professional Engineer in at least one US state
  • 10 years of experience with an Electrical Engineering firm or multi-disciplined Architecture & Engineering firm.
  • CEM ( Certified Energy Manager) Preferred
  • CLEP (Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional) Preferred
  • LEED AP Preferred
  • Experience in building power distribution, lighting, communications, and security systems
  • Experience as a lead designer or Electrical Engineer in federal, state, municipal, healthcare, commercial, higher education, or similar projects

 

You Will:

  • Designing all aspects of electrical engineering, with a focus on power distribution, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment and System selection, and layout for building design and site electrical utilities.
  • Collaborating with clients to develop or validate the scope of work for electrical engineering services in building design.
  • Coordinating and overseeing electrical engineering projects and multi-discipline projects, ensuring that electrical design details integrate properly with all other disciplines on the design team.
  • Directing, training, and providing quality control for junior electrical engineers, EIT’s, and designers.
  • Preparing and reviewing accurate electrical project programming, schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents.
  • Supporting electrical engineering construction phase services, such as preparing addenda, amendments, and responding to RFI’s.
  • Working collaboratively with other engineers and designers, while also being able to work independently with limited direction.
  • Mentoring junior electrical engineering staff and monitoring their professional development.
  • Assisting in presenting projects to clients, contractors, project team members, AHJ’s, and members of the public through all stages of the project.
  • Actively supporting Company marketing and business development activities, including establishing and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Providing technical guidance to mechanical staff.
  • Developing new and/or revised processes and procedures, while also representing the Department Head when unavailable.
  • Leading staff training sessions and providing input to Department Head on staff annual performance reviews.

Project responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Acting as Design Manager on all assigned projects
  • Overseeing the design and documentation of building electrical systems
  • Developing and implementing design methodologies and project plans
  • Creating accurate and code-compliant electrical drawings and specifications
  • Reviewing work products produced by electrical engineers, EITs, and technicians working on the project
  • Preparing scope and fee proposals for electrical aspects of projects
  • Assisting Principals and Project Managers in developing project proposals, budgets and schedules
  • Conducting QA/QC reviews on assigned projects
  • Reviewing and approving code analysis for projects
  • Creating discipline specifications
  • Responding to RFI's, Dr Check comments, and other comments or concerns
  • Conducting back-check discipline QC comments
  • Adhering to the project budget and schedule
