Senior Electrical Engineer – New York State

ABGI Talent Solutions is partnering with a well-established architecture and engineering firm seeking a highly motivated Sr. Electrical Engineer to join their growing and talented team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of complete building electrical systems while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.


Day in the Life

As a Sr. Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Design complete building electrical systems for new and renovated buildings, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and other special systems.
  • Assign tasks to, coordinate work of, and review work completed by entry-level and junior engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Assist in developing project schedules and workload planning for junior team members.
  • Edit specifications from standard libraries to align with project requirements.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance while receiving general reviews on deliverables.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Certification: Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam; Professional Engineering (PE) license in New York State preferred (or ability to obtain within one year with prior EIT).
  • Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of experience in designing building electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Advanced working knowledge of electrical circuit theory and design.
  • Strong understanding of building power distribution and computer network systems, including communications infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with signals, controls, and lighting technologies for buildings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (N.E.C. / NFPA 70).
  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to non-routine challenges.
  • Other Requirements: A valid NYS DMV driver’s license is required.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel within New York State as needed.
