Ravenswood is looking for a motivated and talented Senior Electrical Engineer to be a member of Ravenswood’s Product Development Team based in Orlando, FL. This person will be responsible for bringing industry leading technologies to market. 


Job Summary 

Ravenswood Solutions provides government agencies and commercial clients with technology and services for collective training, test and evaluation, and policy analysis exercises. Our field-proven packages include high fidelity instrumentation, realistic training effects, and turnkey support services that are customized for each client. 


The Senior Electrical Engineer will work with a small and highly collaborative team and take their ideas through all aspects of the engineering process; from concept to field test to final production. This person will report to the Director of Product Development and provide engineering expertise in research & development, product development, sustainment, and testing.  Specific responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following): 

  • Provide overall support and supervision of electrical and wireless communications engineering designs, concepts, testing, and integration 
  • Design, create, and test custom PCBAs 
  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to solve complex problems 
  • Mentor engineering staff on best practices, market trends, and client needs 
  • Coordinate design integration of subsystems to create a complete product 
  • Generate engineering models and test under lab and field conditions 
  • Provide inputs to overall systems tests and equipment acceptance tests 
  • Write and execute test plans and debug complex systems 
  • Take designs from prototype to field capable products 
  • Support design for manufacturing and production 
  • Generate engineering reports and briefing inputs as required 
  • Provide manpower and cost estimation inputs to engineering budgets 
  • Provide lessons learned and recommendations for continual improvement 

Requirements


Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience in a similar role, preferably within product development 
  • Proven expertise in design and development of discrete electronic circuits, multi-assembly system/unit design board layout 
  • Expertise with Altium or other PCB design, analysis and simulation tools 
  • Proficiency in design and layout of PCBs 
  • Experience with board level power distribution circuits 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively  
  • Proven ability to take design concepts from requirements to pre-production 
  • A strong advocate for process improvement 
  • Experience in managing schedule and resources to meet assigned milestones 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • 10 years of related experience 
  • Familiarity with military training systems, events, formats, and protocol, environmental standards 
  • Experience with embedded programming 
  • Familiarity with MATLAB 
  • Strong communication, technical writing and presentation skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Flexible team-oriented attitude; able to adapt to changing requirements 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical and schedule risks and to identify cost reduction opportunities 

Other Requirements 

  • Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check 
  • A drug screen will be required as part of the hiring process 
  • Ability to travel required (typically one week every twelve weeks, anticipate less than 30 days per year). Trips to include testing of developed products in operating environment and new client development/planning on location
