SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. The Senior Electrical Engineer works within a cross-functional engineering team to design and develop new power systems for UAV, portable, and backup power applications while supporting the improvement and production of existing systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be working primarily with fuel cell and battery power sources, as well as any ancillary products. The Senior Electrical Engineer is a professional expert who is capable of leading projects and mentoring coworkers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties

·           Lead and support the design, development, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of electrical systems for unmanned aircraft.

·           Hands on development, test, and troubleshooting.

·           Technical leader for engineering projects including PCB design, embedded systems, and wire harnesses.

·           Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, aerospace, software, QA)

·           Support creation of repeatable manufacturing processes and inspection plans.

·           Participate in and lead design and peer reviews.

·           Maintain high standards quality within the team by adhering to good practices and habits of configuration control.

·           Process development and improvement.

·           Perform inspections (in-process and final) on cable harness and Printed Circuit board assemblies and subassemblies (mechanical, electrical).

·           Train and mentor engineers and other coworkers

·           Observe and assist engineering and production teams in resolving issues.

·           Communicate and escalate challenges to leadership in a productive way.

·           Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

·           7+ years of work experience with power system development, battery management systems, or related field

·           Extensive experience in designing various types of DC-DC converters (e.g., buck, boost, buck-boost, SEPIC), as well as isolated DC-DC converter designs.

·           Proficiency in selecting and sizing components such as inductors, capacitors, MOSFETs, and diodes for optimal performance and efficiency.

·           Experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) for modeling and analyzing converter performance.

·           Expertise in PCB layout design to minimize noise, EMI, and thermal issues

·           Skills in optimizing converter efficiency and minimizing losses through careful design and component selection

·           Creating and interpreting drawings, schematics, PCB layout, and other technical documents.

·           Hands on testing and prototyping using common electrical tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering iron, crimpers, etc.)

·           Microcontroller programming and testing.

·           Integrating electrical, software, mechanical systems.

·           Familiarity with the industrial specifications and requirements (ISO, MIL, ASME, IPC, etc.)

·           Experience with Altium or similar PCB design software, and Microsoft office products.

·           Proficiency in creating detailed design documentation, test plans, and technical reports.

·           Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent

·           Relevant certifications in power electronics or related areas can be advantageous.

·           Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve design issues.

·           Attention to detail and quality.

·           Ability to present information to a group.

·           Ability to generate detailed reports.

·           Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

·           Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting technical information and collaborating with team members.

·           Project management and leadership skills

·           Able to work cooperatively in a team.
