Who are we looking for?   


GHD is growing! Our U.S. West offices have a strong backlog of projects. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to work from any of our offices in California ( San Diego, Irvine, Long Beach, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Roseville, Santa Rosa, Concord, or San Francisco).


This position offers great variety of projects and the opportunity in a lead and support a variety of electrical projects, including power generation, distribution, and utilization systems required for waterworks, industrial, and environmental projects.

Responsibilities of the position will include, but be not limited to:



  • Collaborating with fellow professionals on a wide range of assignments including water/wastewater, waterfront, architectural, industrial, and related projects.

  • Planning and responsibility for the delivery of electrical reports, plans, specifications, studies, and calculations. 

  • Managing single and multidiscipline projects, associated budgets, project administration and delivery. 

  • Leading and contributing to the preparation of proposals to clients for projects.

  • Managing stakeholder expectations.

  • Coordinating and leading the work of the team, mentoring less experienced team members.

  • Contributing to design standards development. 

  • Providing creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities.


The Ideal candidate would have the following skills: 



  • Excellence at all stages of the project life cycle, from preparing project scope and fee proposals, writing feasibility studies, consulting, developing detailed design drawings and specifications, developing budgetary construction cost estimates, and providing construction support, and managing stakeholder expectations.

  • Experience with Business Development (positioning with clients, proposal writing, fee negotiations).

  • Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating and solving problems while maintaining scope and budget.

  • Experience working in multi-discipline teams – e.g. architects, civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation engineers.

  • Technical expertise in low and medium voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, backup power systems, telecommunications and other low voltage systems design, and uninterruptible / emergency power systems.

  • Overall experience in monitoring and directing projects produced in AutoCAD and Revit. 

  • An interest in coaching and mentoring to technically strengthen the team capabilities.

  • Experience working with Federal, State & Municipal clients preferred.

  • Technical expertise with instrumentation and control system design will be advantageous.

  • Technical expertise with lighting controls and California energy code will be advantageous.

  • Experience with power systems simulation software such as SKM Powertools, PSS or ETAP is considered a plus.


Qualifications: 



  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an ABET accredited school in Electrical Engineering or similar degree.

  • Minimum 10 years of professional consulting engineering experience with water/wastewater, architectural, waterfront, and/or industrial projects.

  • Registered Professional Engineer in California (Electrical).

Salary Range: $138,000-$207,000 based on experience and location
