DescriptionWood is currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer (this role is a pathway to Principal level) to join our team in Brisbane on a permanent contract.
Reporting to the Lead Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer, the successful applicant will be part of a busy project team delivering greenfield and brownfield projects for our clients in the oil & gas, coal seam gas and utilities sectors
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the technical aspect of engineering related activities within a project
- Must be familiar with relevant codes, client design specifications and procedures, and have a thorough working knowledge of the latest design and analytical techniques
- Provide functional engineering input to assigned projects
- Expected to be responsible for discipline delivery within agreed scope, budget and schedule of small to medium sized projects for all phases from concept to detailed design and beyond
- Provides technical support to other engineering design team members (including designers, graduate, engineer and peer level support)
- Produce key electrical engineering documentation to facilitate project close-out
- Regular interaction with discipline and inter-discipline team members at all levels to meet schedule
Qualifications
- Degree in the electrical engineering discipline (B.Sc/ M.Sc/ B.Eng)
- Preferably to have RPEQ / Charted accreditation or on pathway to achieve such accreditation
- 10 years minimum industry experience, at least 5 years in a design role within the electrical engineering discipline
- HV experience required
- Hands on use of electrical modelling software (ETAP, PTW, etc.) is required.
- Good knowledge of local and international codes and standards used in relevant industries for electrical engineering.
- Under direction from lead engineer, capable of applying advanced engineering techniques on engineering problems and methods
- Capable of communicating and interfacing effectively with other disciplines, project managers, and clients’ representatives
- Hazardous Area accreditation is advantageous
- Demonstrate balance of industrial experience at relevant level and position
- Professional demeanour, interpersonal and team working skills are mandatory requirements to be assessed for team fit
- Able to demonstrate good team working skills
- Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn with a flexible can-do attitude
- Mobile and willing to spend time away from office location as and when operation requires
