OnsiteThe Collins Aerospace Power & Controls, Controls Engineering organization in Rockford, Illinois, is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced engineering solutions. This entry-level position is ideal for an Electrical and Electronics Engineering professional, offering the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary technical team within a post-production support setting. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams spanning program management, service and test engineering, quality assurance, operations, and supply chain to resolve product issues and deliver effective solutions that improve customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include addressing product yield challenges, conducting Zero Hour return and field return investigations, driving product improvements and cost reduction efforts, and assisting with part shortages and supplier information requests for the control’s product line. The ideal candidate will bring electrical design expertise, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and experience in supporting the design and testing of electrical circuits.
What You Will Do
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to electrical hardware, including field returns, zero-hour returns, production yield issues, and other related concerns.
Review and interpret electrical schematics, product manuals, and datasheets to support issue resolution.
Perform schematic design using Concept HDL and conduct design reviews in accordance with department standards.
Execute design analysis in alignment with department standards and customer specifications.
Review and update Test Requirement Specifications (TRS) to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Provide support and debugging assistance for production test solutions as .
Assist in redesign efforts driven by cost reduction initiatives, obsolescence, part shortages, or product improvement projects.
Apply knowledge of electrical components (resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc.) to support troubleshooting and solutions.
Use understanding of circuit theory and design principles for product development and issue resolution.
Test electrical hardware using equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power analyzers.
Troubleshoot electrical issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment to deliver solutions.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
U.S. citizenship is , as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
2 years of experience with integrated circuit design and analysis.
Experience working with embedded systems, firmware, or microcontrollers.
Proficiency in schematic capture tools, such as Cadence LTSpice.
