Summary: Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, this position oversees the mechanical/electrical maintenance of the equipment, machinery, and tooling required to produce the finished product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and updating PLC programs
- Monitors machinery performance regularly along with maintaining spare parts inventories on identified critical equipment parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair of manufacturing equipment
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, measuring and analyzing equipment performance, identifying faults and taking appropriate corrective measures.
- Build and design tooling fixtures to increase efficiency and consistency in manufacturing.
- Support established Preventative Maintenance system of equipment and make required adjustments
- Must have a flexible time schedule to perform preventative maintenance with minimum impact to production and willing to share on-call status among other production personnel.
- Work under minimum of technical supervision. Self-driven.
- Prepare technical reports for documenting issues/changes to equipment
- Maintain repair records for all activities
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices during maintenance operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance and efficiency.
- Training and knowledge transfer: Stay updated in technological advancements, industry trends, and best practices related to maintenance engineering. Provide guidance and training to other maintenance staff, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance overall competence of the team.
- Assist with environmental regulations inquiries and customer documentation
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, with specific experience in extrusion or molding equipment (preferred)
- Must be proficient in programming and troubleshooting using AB Logic, 5000, Factory Talk, Siemens TIA and for newer PLC’s and S7 for older Siemens S7 and older PLC, HMI and Variable Frequency Drives
- Experienced in machine/plant networks. Knowledge of basic architectures such as Client-Server. Experience with machine-to-machine communication and with Bus- and Ethernet-based communication protocols like Profibus, Device net, and ProfNet.
- Experienced in OPC UA and machine connection Tools like KEPServerEx or OPC Router
- Experience in machine to MES communication
- Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System)
- Knowledge of 480v Electrical Power Distribution Systems and extrusion and conversion processes

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Compensation: After thorough market analysis, LAPP takes many factors into consideration when determining base salary such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, etc. of the candidate. The base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $95,000 plus participation in LAPP's bonus plan.
