Introduction

Lecturer role available for candidates with a completed Honours or Masters in Electrical Engineering and at least 3-5 years lecturing experience at a Higher Education institution. The Programme Coordinator will Lecture and coordinate the Electrical Engineering Degree. They will coordinate alongside and with support of the Head of academics.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • The Programme Coordinator will Lecture and coordinate the Electrical degree. They will coordinate alongside and with support of the Head of academics.

  • Ability and/or demonstrable potential to undertake high caliber, publishable academic research in engineering, or related disciplines;

  • Ability and/or demonstrable potential to drive innovative approaches in teaching and research;

  • Ability and/or demonstrable potential to accomplish high levels of teaching performance;

  • Ability and/or demonstrable potential to provide academic leadership;

  • Ability and/or demonstrable potential to progress and complete research grants and projects;

  • Demonstrate appropriate high-level computer skills including the use of learning management systems (e.g. Moodle), spreadsheets and word-processing.

  • Exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a scholarly and cooperative teaching and learning environment within the course.

  • Knowledge and ability to apply Equal Opportunity principles.


  • Ensuring the academic coherence and integrity of the programme and that all conditions for the delivery of the programme are met.




  • Coordination of logistical and other issues regarding:


    o            The day-to-day delivery of the programme.


    o            All aspects of the programme quality management system, including the provision of resources.


    o            The review of the programme and feedback with a view to improvement.


    o            Monitoring of expenditure.




Desired Experience & Qualification

Demonstrated expert knowledge of the engineering profession and the specific area of engineering being taught: Electrical Engineering.


An understanding of and ability to apply equal opportunity in the workplace;


Masters in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (NQF9 or equivalent). Registration (or eligibility for registration) with ECSA desireable.​​​​​​


At least 3-5 years lecturing experience at a Higher Education institution.


Experience in the conceptualization, development, and completion of relevant, high caliber academic research projects;


Experience in effectively teaching and/or coordinating engineering units at the undergraduate level and/or at the postgraduate level.
