WSP is seeking a full-time Lead Electrical Engineer/Project Manager for their Irvine, California office. The following locations will also be considered: Los Angeles, CA. This opportunity involves being part of our deeply experienced Healthcare Team in Southern California.

Your Impact
- Lead project electrical engineer design decision and technical development to ensure work is performed with technical acumen and compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Propose creative solutions, concepts, operating strategies as it relates to electrical systems and be able to communicate these ideas in a team environment.
- Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques in development of drawings and specifications.
- Design or oversee design of electrical distribution systems including one-line and riser diagrams.
- Design or oversee design of lighting systems including lighting control systems.
- Selection of major electrical equipment and development of equipment schedules.
- Design major electrical infrastructure including service entrance switchgear and emergency power systems that support life safety functions.
- Coordination electrical infrastructure with local electrical utility company site requirements.
- Perform electrical load calculations for normal and emergency power systems.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, concepts, and recommendations to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design, and/or construction issues or opportunities.
- Perform construction administration related tasks such as reviewing construction submittals, responding to RFIs, and performing on-site field observations.
- Engage in mentoring and knowledge sharing activities with junior staff.
- Project management activities including writing proposals, establishing budgets, reviewing billing, and managing client iterations.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design issues.
- Coordinates the activities of technical staff from project award through project completion.
- Attends client meetings and develops client project requirements based on client feedback.
- Schedules and orchestrates project team meetings.
- Keeps record of system design decisions and shares with QA/QC team to ensure proper review with respect to project scope.
- Understands various project delivery methods as it related to correspondence and contracts with other consultant and construction contractor partners.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Participate in industry events and opportunities.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables.
- Experience in Electrical Buildings System Engineering with Project Management experience.
- Engineer license required.
- Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design.
- Demonstrates competence and comprehensive knowledge concerning adjacent disciplines.
- Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.
- Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of electrical engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
- Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
- Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP, WIN IGS, Inventor, AutoCADD electrical), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LEED AP Certification
- Previous Healthcare or Laboratory design experience.
- Established relationships with OSHPD to facilitate communication during plan check review and inspection.
- 3+ years of Project Management experience.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $114,000 - $169,290
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
