Description

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the process controls and automation initiatives and challenges across the site and collaboratively identify project opportunities best aligned to skills 
  • Research methods to execute on project and propose solutions with recommendation on path forward
  • Develop Proof of Concept (POC) prototypes for new programs and/or electromechanical systems within the project.
  • Generate suitable up-front documentation to demonstrate understanding of functionality with appropriate consideration for safety and use, as needed.
  • Procure, assemble, and test hardware as needed, following all test plans generated in the development phase.
  • Document and communicate all results in a clear, concise format.
  • Support hand-off to production team or provide guidance on path to production use.

Requirements

  • Engineering major, preferably electrical
  • Ability to work creatively in multi-disciplinary teams and strive for innovative solutions
  • Experience in circuit design and analysis a must
  • Experience programming in some combination of C#, .NET, Python, LabView, or other standard industrial protocol a major plus
  • Experience with programmable logic (PLC) or deterministic controllers a strong plus
  • Strong analytical skills a plus
  • Citizen or permanent resident

Working Conditions

  • Work environment can range from office to lab to manufacturing floor.
  • Work involving small to large equipment.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Able to perform physical tasks in various positions: standing, crouching, kneeling, reaching 
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Perform occasional lab or bench—level test work as needed

 

Safety Requirements

  • All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and COHERENT Corporate EHS standards.
  • PPE may be required when entering manufacturing areas.
