Our client, based in Isando has a vacancy for a Service Technician reporting to the Service Manager. The successful candidate should be willing to travel regularly (local and abroad) and willing to work beyond normal working hours when required.
Key Performance Areas •
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
• Prepare sketches or follow drawings to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
• Install ground leads and cables and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors and elements.
• Evaluate basic boiler room systems (steam and hydronic), gather information, and help solve problems.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
• Estimate and compile material list required for onsite equipment installation and termination
• identify and determine system requirements and program and implement VSD / VFD equipment to produce required demand.
• Fault finding and error identification of VFD / VSD.
• Determine, install, and configure instrumentation equipment to various processes to meat required output or demand
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, equipment, and components and correct the problem.
Minimum Qualifications
• N3 Electrical Engineering/Millwright
• Trade Test Electrical Engineering/Millwright
• Unendorsed drivers’ licence
• SAGA Membership will be advantageous
Experience • 5 Years’ experience as an electrical and instrumentation technician • Boiler servicing and commissioning Boilers will be advantageous • Knowledge of package boilers • Computer literacy
