Job Description

We're actively searching for a Contract Firmware - FPGA Engineer to join our dynamic team in our Tampa Office. In this pivotal role, you'll spearhead our hardware development team, focusing on the design and implementation of embedded cryptographic solutions. Proficiency in VHDL programming is paramount for success in this role.

 

Position Description:

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall firmware architecture, design and guidance for programs.
  • Interact with customer during milestone reviews and formal testing events.
  • Support technical proposal solution development and engineering level of effort estimations.
  • Develop embedded algorithms, interfaces and functions in firmware.
  • Develop device drivers for hardware components.
  • Support the creation of engineering documentation.
  • Work closely with a team of engineers and technical staff that perform a variety of engineering tasks involving design, implementation and testing.
  • Executes engineering research, design development and other assignments in conformance with engineering requirements and customer specifications.
  • Define unit, integration, and acceptance test plans and test procedures for hardware integration.
  • Report task progress using written and oral communications.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies that can be beneficial to the projects and business.
  • Understand business objectives, priorities, and company’s vision.
  • This position requires travel up to 5% annually to customer sites.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Systems/Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in: (1) digital design and VHDL (2) Embedded processors and SoC development (3) FPGA/SoC based systems (4) digital signal processing as applied to FPGA/SoC devices.
  • This position requires Active US Government Security Clearance.
  • This position may require periodic travel up to 5% annually.

 

Nice to Have Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Xilinx Zynq and/or UltraScale+ and related toolchains.
  • Experience in FPGA timing constraints and timing closure.
  • Knowledge/experience of software programming and how software and firmware integrate/interact.
  • Experience with C programming language.
  • Experience in Security Design/Information Assurance.
  • Knowledge/experience of US DoD Cryptographic products developments and systems.
  • Participate in process/tool improvements.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems design using Microblaze, Nios or ARM processors.
  • Experience with scripting languages and establishing automated test setups using languages such as TCL and batch scripts.
  • Configuration management and documentation experience.
  • Ability to interact with customer and customer representatives.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and ability to lead firmware engineers on a multi-discipline team.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with the ability to adapt skills to various analytical situations.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and recommend/implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
