Job Description: In this position, the software engineer will perform software design and implementation for military and civil aircraft Flight Management Systems (FMS). In this role, you will utilize your problem solving skills under the guidance of senior engineers. Your tasks will require the ability to solve moderately complex problems within a defined scope. Issue resolution will be performed through immediate action and/or short-term planning.

 

Job Description

Conduct Problem Report (PR) investigation and resolution • Work in a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and refactor real-time embedded Flight Management (FM) software within functional areas including: Flight Planning , Navigation, Input / Output, Crew Interface / HMI, EFIS Graphical Displays, Datalink, Lateral Guidance, Vertical Guidance, and Performance functions.

Qualifications

Essential Responsibilities :
• Provide timely communications on issues or developments relevant to assigned tasks, maintaining a focus on safety and reliability
• Participate in software structural coverage analysis and test for 100% coverage of airborne software
• Participate actively in software design and code reviews

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, OR related discipline with heavy emphasis in software engineering and mathematics (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an Engineering, IT, Scientific or related technical position)

• Knowledge and/or interest in implementing software with a heavy mathematics and floating-point computations
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, database design, and software engineering principles
• Knowledge and/or interest in Flight Management Systems software
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills
• PC proficiency
• Experience with DOORS, Dimensions, and Rational Apex
