Position Overview






A Embedded Electronics Engineer tasks may include but not be limited to creating and testing new firmware and middleware, updating and testing circuit modifications, testing and verifying new code and hardware. The Embedded Electronics Engineer will also provide manufacturing and product support from a technical engineering capacity. This individual may have the ability to represent Pillar Innovations (IOT) out in the field and will be responsible for maintaining good relations with current and prospective customers.  

 

The Embedded Electronics Engineers will report to the Engineering Manager and will work out of the Morgantown, WV Division. 









What You'll Do






  • Embedded Programming of microcontrollers and single board computers (mostly C and Python)
  • Writing code for Middleware & backend code for interfacing with Enterprise Cloud environments
  • Providing technical/engineering support with replacement parts in existing systems
  • PCBA design and layout
  • Creating and finalizing design upgrades and features to meet product requirements.
  • Supporting and modifying BOMs (Bill of Materials) to keep them accurate and up to date
  • Ensuring timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and meeting allotted budget
  • Defining equipment and parts from external suppliers
  • Conducting thorough testing of products as needed to ensure top performance of products
  • Architecting modifications that are simple to test and well documented
  • Maintaining accurate and organized internal engineering documentation
  • Creating customer documentation such as user manuals, assembly instructions, troubleshooting guides, and test reports
  • Assist with commissioning customized products and systems onsite at customer facilities
  • Modifying systems upon customer’s request and documenting the amendments accordingly
  • Providing technical support and on-site troubleshooting and repair for customers
  • Facilitating and supporting manufacturing processes with the product team

What You'll Bring






  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required to have 3+ years of post-graduate electronics, firmware, and hardware experience (troubleshooting, development, and support)
  • Possess interest in working with established projects and also helping to lead and develop new projects
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement and innovation in device set-up and creation
  • Experience with embedded C, Python, and Linux.
  • Knowledge of analog /digital circuitry, electronic design rules and an understanding of electromechanical assembly
  • Hands on ability using electronics lab equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, signal analyzers, multimeters.
  • Proficient with MS Office productivity software
  • Ability to efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
  • Ability to balance multiple projects
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while interacting with customers, with an aptitude for answering technical questions in a simplified manner
  • Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs including possible emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with TI and ST microcontrollers 
  • Experience working with Enterprise Cloud environments: AWS, Azure, etc. 
  • Experience with Altium Designer 
  • Experience with Atlassian tools including Jira and Bitbucket 
  • Technical aptitude for using handheld tools 
  • Experience with extremely low power circuits 
  • Experience with battery charge, discharge, and maintenance circuitry
  • Experience with low power wireless technologies: BLE, LORA, Zigbee, Digi mesh, etc.
