Electrical Engineering Manager

Summary:
As a member of the Central Engineering leadership team, the Electrical Engineering Manager will drive activities such as strategizing, planning, mentoring, and managing electrical engineering activities in support of UI’s innovation, product development and product sustaining roadmaps.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Drives departmental performance against annual objectives while adhering to corporate policies and maintaining high standards for design quality
- Effectively manages and grows a staff of highly technical Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
- Resource allocation planning to assure programs are properly staffed and resource gaps are identified.
- Effectively identifies and manages 3rd party resources to augment full time resources.
- Owns and continuous improvement of Electrical Engineering processes and best practices.
- Manages and develops electrical engineering lab and engineering toolsets used for design, prototyping, simulation, analysis, measurement and verification.
- Supports the development of and manages to annual departmental budget.
- Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable State and Federal laws, including interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, directing work and appraising performance.
- Enforces all safety regulations.
- As required, travels to; satellite locations, customers, suppliers, tradeshows, or recruiting events.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering: Master’s Degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of relative individual contribution experience within industry.
- 1-3 years of experience managing direct reports.
- Experienced in Electrical Systems Design, preferably in the development of capital equipment / automation hardware development in a mechanized product output environment.
- Experience in board level design, inclusive of analog/digital circuit design and firmware development.
- Experienced bringing capital equipment into conformance with regulatory requirements (CE, UL, etc.).
- Experienced in project/program management is preferred.
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:
- Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.
- Able to communicate clearly with fellow colleagues and in giving presentations
- Availability to travel to company and customer sites or technical conferences may occasionally be required.

Target Annual Base Pay: $152,500 – $158,300 + Robust Benefits
