As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in developing next-generation pool control electronics and LED lighting systems.

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Electronics Hardware Development Team this summer at our North Kingstown, RI facility. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers in the research, design, and testing of cutting-edge electronic systems for pool and spa applications. You will contribute to real-world product development, assisting with circuit design, PCB layout, prototyping, and validation of LED lighting and control electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of electronic circuits for LED lighting and pool control systems.
  • Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using industry-standard tools (e.g., Altium, Eagle, OrCAD).
  • Conduct laboratory testing and validation of electronic prototypes.
  • Support firmware and software engineers in hardware bring-up and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in creating test plans, data collection, and analysis for product performance evaluation.
  • Research and evaluate new components and technologies for future designs.
  • Document design changes, test results, and engineering processes.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and microcontroller-based systems.

Familiarity with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, or similar).

Hands-on experience with electronics lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).

Basic understanding of LED driver circuits, power regulation, and embedded systems is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills (Plus, but Not Required):

  • Experience with LED lighting systems and thermal management.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN).
  • Exposure to firmware development (C, Python, or embedded programming).
  • Familiarity with EMC compliance testing and design considerations.
