Summer internship positions are temporary full-time positions. Β The duration of this position is from mid-May to mid-August.

Responsibilities
All students will learn to:
Identify safety equipment, locations and procedures in case of an emergency
Participate in behavioral based safety programs
Engage and execute a visual standards project during their term
Manage and efficient operation
Managing maintenance technicians to help complete projects that students are implementing under the guidance of the maintenance manager
Collaborate with maintenance team to execute on several small scale improvement projects
Take direction from the maintenance department supervision to execute on daily management activities
Understand the Irving Way, and the importance and effectiveness of vertical integration
Gain and understanding of the different facets of the facilities, and their importance
Learn how to use Enterprise One system to execute maintenance coordinating processes
Understand the importance of providing and A+ product to our customers, and how it affects our business
Implement effective time management skills
Engineering:
See through a project/multiple projects that will help the plan grow regarding safety, and efficiency
Investigate and resolve small production related deviations and engage in action to improve or repair gaps
Learn to communicate effectively with vendors/contractors. Β Obtain quotes and make a business decision to benefit the plant
Communicate effectively with leadership, and present ideas/problems along with potential solutions
Identify potential roadblocks ahead of time, and potential solutions to progress beyond them
Personal Growth:
Directing small crews at times
Presenting ideas effectively to leadership
Public Speaking
Summer Interns will develop a short presentation to deliver to the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager on their accomplishments and learning over the summer
Qualifications
Education Required: Completion of 1st year of post-secondary education and in good academic standing
