Electrical Engineer/Technologist - Johannesburg/Umhlanga/Cape Town Office
Main Responsibilities:
- Design of electrical services for data centre / industrial type buildings.
- Prepare design tasks, reports, technical drawings, engineering specifications and tender documentation.
- Measuring and compiling of bills of quantities.
- Perform site inspections and attend meetings.
- Assistance in commissioning processes.
- Provides expert contribution as project member, senior or lead.
- Provide technical and administrative support with preparation of bid submissions.
- Ensure that all quality system procedures are followed in the production and issuing of designs, costing, drawings and standard details.
- Monitor quality, in order to guarantee delivered services/products are in line with all relevant (internal and external) guidelines/procedures.
- Contribute towards improvement of existing products, techniques and services.
- Mentor juniors as appropriate.
Β Minimum qualifications, skills and experience:
- BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional registration with ECSA is preferred for Senior / Lead position.
- Minimum relevant post graduate electrical building services experience preferably within a consulting engineering environment:
- 0 - 3yrs Junior
- 4 - 7yrs Mid-level
- 8yrs+ Senior
- 10yrs+ Lead
- Data centre / industrial / cleanrooms facilities experience is advantageous.
- BIM experience using BIM authoring tools, i.e. Revit.
- BIM360, Revizto, Dynamo and Python experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrable electrical engineering experience with an in-depth knowledge of building electrical services, substation / distribution design, reticulation systems designs, BMS & electronic systems.
- Extensive knowledge of local and international standards and codes.
- Ability to develop engineering documentation from first principles.
- Knowledge of specialist electrical engineering design software packages as well as MS Office, including Teams, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Project.
- Good communication and people management skills for effective interface with other engineering disciplines, the client and contractors.
