SYSTEM ENGINEER (Electrical) – PLANT HATCH 

 

Job Summary 

We have opening for a system engineer at Plant Hatch (Nuclear Power Plant in Baxley, GA). System engineers ensure the reliability of assigned plant systems. They solve system and component problems, provide direct technical support for operation and maintenance, and plan long term performance improvements. Engineers at Southern Nuclear may have opportunities to manage special projects. Also, engineers typically take key refueling outage assignments. Future developmental assignments in operations, maintenance, training, or quality assurance often prepare engineers for supervisory and management positions. Engineering assignments typically include on-call duty engineer and emergency plan response requirements. 

 

Educational Requirements:

BS in Engineering is required.  An Electrical Engineering degree is strongly preferred.  PE License desired 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

- Prior experience in controls is preferred. 

- A background in engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards. 

- An ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions, based on experience and appropriate industry practices, in order to make timely decisions which might impact plant safety and reliability. 

- Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, component engineering or design engineering preferred. 

- Previous experience in Environmental Qualification or Cable Monitoring Programs are a plus. 

- Working knowledge in Nuclear Plant Systems, structures and components preferred. 

- Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

- Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously. 

- Capable of working efficiently and effectively across organizations. 

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, specifically WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT.
