Your opportunity 

 

Dillon’s Transportation & Facilities technical group is looking for an Electrical Engineer-in-Training to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. 

 

In Dillon, we function as a single team across 23 offices nationwide, allowing you to collaborate with teams and colleagues across the country daily.  The role is available in our Winnipeg office.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

 

Design and Project management

  • Assist lead electrical engineers on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Assist in the preparation of electrical designs including: 
    • One line diagrams and engineering studies
    • building power, lighting and fire alarm systems
    • equipment specifications
    • design calculations
  • Electrical drafting of ongoing and new projects using CAD software
  • Complete design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion
  • Assistance with the preparation of reports and detailed design documents
  • Perform on-site inspections and condition assessments
  • Assistance on commissioning teams
  • Perform contractor submittal reviews
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members 
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in electrical engineering
  • Registration as an engineer-in-training in the province of Manitoba, or be eligible within six months
  • One to two years’ work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset, however, new graduates will also be considered

Experience

  • Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
  • Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Revit software will be considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of AGI32 software is considered an asset
  • Experience in Instrumentation & Controls, including preparation of P&IDs, loop drawings, instrument specifications, and PLC IO lists will be considered an asset
  • Experience in low voltage distribution, motor protection and control, emergency power distribution, and lighting design will be considered an asset
