Job Title: Electrical Engineer      

           

Reports to:  VP of Engineering                                                  

Job Classification:  Exempt     

Education Level:  B.S.E.E or B.S.M.E

Travel Required:  Occasional

 

Position Summary:

 

The Electrical Engineer plans and designs products or product improvements, including electrical and software aspects of projects. The position is responsible for organizing complex activities for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects.

 

Primary Job Functions:

  • Design of electrical schematics and layout of wiring harnesses for integrated products

  • Research, design, and assist in the development of new products, especially integrating electronic components

  • Evaluates and modifies design of emerging and existing products as needed to meet required standards or create product improvements.

  • Produce software for PLC’s or controllers associated with new products

  • Provide electrical-related technical support for both internal and external customers

  • Manage electrical-related continuous improvement programs for existing products

  • Design to limit electromagnetic interference (EMI)

  • Design basic PCB’s and other component consolidation tasks

  • Documents all items and actions per company and ISO 13485 regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with other engineers and FDI production team to research, design, develop, test, and commercialize new products

 

Competencies/Experience:

  • PLC Programming experience (3+ years related experience)

  • Experience with electrical schematics (3+ years related experience)

  • Experience in automation and instrumentation

  • Experience with electrical safety testing standards (e.g., using IEC 61010-1)

  • Verbal communication

  • Technical writing

  • Ability to work closely with a team

  • Enjoys hands-on R&D work

  • Innovative/Continuous Improvement mentality

  • Problem solving

  • Mechanical Design

 

Working Conditions

Approximately 30% of this work is performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to noise levels up to 110 decibels.  The job requires the ability to both sit and stand for long periods of time.  The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
