Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead Electrical Hardware Design activities for Fenix’s suite of Battlefield of Things™ communication solutions (LTE, 5G, MANET) throughout the full development life cycle including conception, prototype, qualification/certification, and full-rate production.
  • Perform preliminary design activities - including solution architecture development, block diagram creation, trade studies, and design reviews.
  • Perform detailed analog and digital design activities - including simulations, modeling, component research/selection, schematic capture, design analysis, prototype tests, and design reviews.
  • Perform PCB layout to include design for current, highspeed data, cross talk, EMI, ESD, Impedance control requirements, length matching, and Signal integrity.
  • Design for and take into consideration Design for Test, Design for Manufacturability, Environmental factors, EMI/EMC performance, and qualification testing.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to manufacturing in support of product launch and maintenance of line.
  • Participate in field test events or customer demonstrations
  • Work alongside other disciplines and organizational barriers as a team member to develop products in an efficient and collaborative manner.
  • Develop, execute, and document project assignments, working independently to meet committed timelines and project goals, and per established governance policies and guidelines.



Requirements

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; experience may be substituted for education.

Experience

  • A minimum of 8+ years related work experience required
  • Experience designing for environmental complex environments (EMI, vibration, water, etc.)
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Refined oral and written communication skills
  • Possesses knowledge of design, prototyping, and manufacturing
  • Fine pitch soldering or BGA reflow is a plus 
  • Design and documentation in Altium 
  • Solidworks PDM is a plus

Skills

  • Proficiency in Altium Schematic Capture and PCB
  • SPICE or similar circuit simulation software
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Rapid Prototype Design
  • Experience MIL-STD 810 Testing and Validation
  • Strong hardware background with an emphasis Oscilloscopes, Digital Multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers
  • Micropython or C++ is a plus

Other Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen 
  • Work Authorization / Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Secret level clearance
  • Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.
