Position Overview

Abacus Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong background in designing building electrical systems. As an Electrical PE, you will play a key role in designing and implementing electrical solutions for a variety of projects, contributing to the growth and success of our firm. This position is Full-Time and is not a remote job, requiring your presence on-site for effective collaboration and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Design and Development: Lead the design and development of electrical systems for building projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Conduct electrical load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short circuit analysis to ensure system reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Preparation: Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents using AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into building designs.
  • Site Assessments: Perform site visits and inspections to assess existing electrical infrastructure, identify issues, and propose solutions.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Industry Trends: Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices in electrical engineering.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensing: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on building systems design.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or similar.
  • Code Knowledge: Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IBC, etc.).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Proven track record of delivering high-quality work on schedule and within budget constraints.
