JOB TITLE: Electrical Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

REPORTING TO: Chief Engineer via the assigned project lead

Founded in 1955, Piasecki Aircraft Corporation (PiAC) is a research and development business specializing in design, fabrication and flight testing of experimental rotorcraft and unmanned air vehicles. Piasecki has developed and flown more than 25 different advanced VTOL and UAV aircraft and continues to develop cutting-edge vertical flight technologies.

SUMMARY: 

The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Electrical Engineer is responsible for participating in design projects, including the development, testing, and integration of electrical and avionics systems for PiAC products. This role supports existing designs and helps implement innovative solutions to enhance PiAC's aircraft systems under the guidance of senior engineers and project leads.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Participate in design projects to support system development milestones and FAA certification of aircraft and aircraft systems.
  • Design and test circuits and avionics subsystems for incorporation in aircraft under supervision.
  • Support testing activities and integration schedules as directed by project leads.
  • Implement software solutions for embedded systems and firmware.
  • Contribute to optimization initiatives related to obsolescence, reliability, affordability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to support project success.
  • Document design work, test results, and technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and avionics system issues.
  • Present technical information to project teams and management when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of aircraft avionics architecture and system design fundamentals.
  • Good technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Solid technical writing and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including laboratory, flight test, and production settings.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with aircraft electrical systems and avionics.
  • Familiarity with FAA certification processes.
  • Experience with embedded systems programming.
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 0-3 years' experience in hardware and software development.
  • Familiarity with avionics systems design principles.

Preferred:

  • Experience in an aerospace environment.
  • Understanding of RTOS and embedded systems
  • Knowledge of FAA certification standards.
