Position Summary


We are seeking a talented and innovative Electrical/Electronics Engineer to Lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced electronic systems and embedded software for our flagship products. This position works out of our headquarters in Markham, Ontario and reports to our Engineering Manager. This critical role supports the Acculogic business which is housed in the Electronic Test division of inTEST Corporation. This division is on a trajectory of growth and provides an opportunity to support a global organization.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  

  • Plan, conceptualize, and build electronics assemblies and control systems for existing and new products
  • Design and develop analog/digital/mixed-signal electronic circuits (schematics and PCB layout in Altium or equivalent CAD package)
  • Specify, design, implement, document, release, and support firmware (embedded software) for Microcontroller, Microprocessors, FPGAs, and SoCs to be used in all Acculogic product lines including FLS and Boundary Scan tool
  • Ensure that all electronics and electrical subassemblies work safely and efficiently to meet customer requirements
  • Develop detailed design specifications, create test plans, perform testing and verify & validate new designs.
  • Oversee the system integration of mechanical assemblies with electrical, firmware and software systems to ensure seamless functionality
  • Participate in Design Review, Production Readiness Reviews, perform review of parts/components, drawings, bill of materials and work instructions for assembly/manufacturability (DFM & A) 
  • Build Working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstrations.
  • Support Application and Production team to troubleshoot technical issues and non-conformances
  • Provide technical support for all phases of new product development (NPD) projects and Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, software, application engineers, quality assurance and production technicians for system integration and resolve the root cause of non-conformance and propose corrective and preventative action
  • Manage project deliverables, timelines, and resources while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in system design and implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager and Support company objective and growth initiatives
Requirements

Minimum Position Qualifications

  

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in electrical/electronics engineering with analog/digital circuit design and firmware (assembly, C, VHDL/Verilog) development experience 
  • 7+ years of experience and good knowledge of designing, testing and troubleshooting complex testing instruments including closed-loop motion control system (encoder, controller, drivers, actuators), analog/digital circuits, AC/DC electrical power distribution 
  • Solid experience with 8/16/32-bit microcontroller/microprocessor architecture and comfortable with programming, emulation, & debug tools using assembly, C/C++ languages especially with Texas Instruments product. 
  • Solid knowledge of PID algorithm and FOC motor control 
  • Proficient with various communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, RS232, RS485, CAN, USB and Ethernet
  • Hands on experience in debugging and repairing/reworking electronics to the component level using logic analyzer, oscilloscopes, digital
  • Soldering skills for thru-hole and surface mount technologies including SOIC, SSOP, and TQFP
  • Good practical knowledge of PCB testing and Battery in-circuit testing methodologies
  • Experience in source control tools such as SVN, GIT, SourceTree
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA)
  • Self-motivated with a positive, solution-focused ‘can do’ attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Team player who embraces innovation and continuous improvement.


Preferred Skills

  • Ability to comprehend and follow complicated mechanical CAD drawing
  • Familiarity with machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, or computer vision applications in mechatronics.
  • Experience working in Agile or similar project management framework and state-gate NPD process
  • Experience working under a Quality Management System and ISO 9001
  • Familiarity with certification process by regulatory bodies (CE, UL, CSA, TUV)

Work Environment

  • Are sometimes exposed to hazardous equipment. Appropriate PPE provided.
  • May on occasion be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable.
  • Work in close proximity to others.
