GPD is excited to bring on new talent due to our continued growth in substation and transmission design and modeling innovation in the Power industry.  We are hiring an Electrical Engineers in both our Akron, OH, and our Columbus, OH offices looking to partner with Project Managers to lead the technical effort in designing high-voltage substations and power infrastructure. GPD Group works directly with the communities we serve for power distribution.

 

Role Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering Technology degree from an ABET-accredited program.

  • 7+ years of experience in power delivery – medium to high voltage (12kV to 345kV).

  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus.

  • Enjoys taking on a leadership role not only as a technical expert in our field but as a servant leader in the community and within the company.

  • Experience mentoring and empowering newer engineers in their careers.

  • Established experience in design oversight for power projects.

  • Proficient understanding of developing relay protection schemes and settings.

  • High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.

  • Thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys all forms of communication while working with clients and team members (virtual, in-person, phone).


Key Responsibilities:


  • Associate electrical design in our power group provides the opportunity to interact with multiple stakeholders in a wide variety of services that encompass our discipline in the development of power infrastructure projects: this includes leading the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements set forth by the project managers.

  • Technical oversight: Applies expert knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry and applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, and finds non-standard design solutions.

  • Mentoring and developing the Power team to further our success in the industry: this includes not only electrical engineering and technical training but empowering those teammates to find their passion and skills in our industry and translating that to continued career success.  Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.

  • Administrative oversight: Championing GPD’s quality assurance and client standards by using design expertise to partner with Project Managers and support their team’s QA/QC efforts.  This also includes partnering with Project Managers to form schedules, estimates, and proposals.
