Description  

  • Opportunity to work on a single or series of initiatives that provide electrical engineering support to Oxy’s field-based Oil & Gas operations located throughout the West Texas and New Mexico Permian Basin Region.  

  • Opportunity to provide electrical engineering support for production facilities including the design, specification, commissioning / startup, and operating of surface equipment with a voltage rating of 4kV and below.  

  • Opportunity to provide electrical distribution system planning and operational support for systems ranging from 12.47kV to 24.9kV including: system Milsoft Windmil GIS modeling, ETAP system transient studies, ETAP system selective coordination studies, ETAP system reliability studies and OSI SCADA deployment.  

  • Opportunity to lead / participate in RFCA investigations on electrical system failures and transient disturbances; and to assist in the development of preventative maintenance initiatives to reduce system impact of future events 

  • Opportunity to develop software-based tools utilized by field-based personnel to facilitate faster storm outage response, failure/outage tracking, system reliability metrics, system GIS information and system preventative maintenance tracking 

Qualifications  

  • Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or EECS 

  • Must have a graduation date between January 2025 - August 2025 

  • Must maintain minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale 

  • Excellent communication and analytic skills 

  • High level of initiative - willing and able to solve complex issues with minimal supervision 

  • Collaborative style and adaptability to diverse teams and situations 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and Computer Programming a plus 

  • Understanding of electrical multi-phase motors, and motor starting techniques a plus 

  • Understanding of electrical system protection philosophies, or electrical protection relays a plus
