Electrical Engineer

 

 

C.A.P. Engineering, Inc. (CAP) offers comprehensive engineering design and construction management services to public and private clients. The firm has offices in Dade and Broward counties. CAP specializes in structural, civil, and MEP engineering as well as construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services. CAP has a diverse range of expertise and a highly-qualified team of 20 professional engineers and support staff prepared to work on projects of varying size and complexity including D-B, P3, and LEED assignments.

 

CAP is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and team player. This position requires five (5) plus years’ experience with design, operation and inspection of motors, batteries, relays, circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers and field instrumentation. Candidate will be responsible for the detailed design, modeling and analysis of normal and emergency power distribution systems, the design of life safety systems, the design and modeling of lighting and associated control systems and coordination with the Plumbing, Mechanical, Architectural, Structural, and Telecommunication/Audio Visual discipline’s design. All candidates must be able to read, interpret, and apply a wide variety of technical information from manuals, drawings, specifications, layouts, blueprints, and schematics.

 

Candidates must possess excellent oral communications skills and ability to organize information. As well as have math computation skills and understanding of contract plans and specifications.

 

 

Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review design specifications and technical drawings to identify customer's requirements and specifications
  • Review and approve drawings and bill of materials for fabrications
  • Handle multiple projects of different design concepts and provide project coordination to the electrical designers
  • Responsible for understanding and keeping up to date with all applicable codes affecting the electrical discipline and then communicating the information with the engineering staff.
  • Responsible for defining and/or producing electrical related project narratives and other technical reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring utility coordination and design coordination with utility service standards.
  • Electrical problem resolution and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for providing third party reviews for commissioning and LEED purposes.
  • Responsible for generating and/or reviewing all technical electrical system analysis reports and or studies.
  • Analyzing load readings.
  • Responsible for generating and updating specifications for use on projects.
  • Responsible for the overall design of all medium and low voltage (MV and LV) electrical distribution systems (normal and emergency) for all projects.

 

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Periodically reviews codes, regulations and standards to keep abreast of changes to the current relevant codes affecting public and privately owned facilities throughout the state.
  • Attends technical seminars.
  • Participates in and develops programs for training, conferences, and other continuing education programs to keep current with technology, maintain skills, and meet current licensing requirements.
  • MUST have a minimum of a B.S. Electrical Engineering, but a master’s degree is PREFERRED.
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in a Quality Control or Quality Experience Position.

 

License and Certification

  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
