Description


The AIM of the Project Engineer is to plan and coordinate technical engineering initiatives while being an individual technical contributor to projects and other engineering needs. The project engineer will make sure that the project will be completed on time and within budget according to a schedule. The duties include upholding project standards by researching compliance regulations, developing project implementation plans and adjusting specifications for elements of a project.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS:

  • Collect design input from various stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Ownership, Industry, etc.) to make design recommendations using CAD drawings, mock-ups, etc.
  • Create and communicate a project timeline that drives critical path decision making activities. 
  • Create initial project budgets and communicate updates as projects progress to guide the management team in decision making activities.
  • Design and draft new product concepts in multiple formats, from pencil sketches to CAD drawings.
  • Research available options for parts, vendors, and new product concepts.
  • Initiate new product projects with vendors.
  • Clearly communicate our concepts/ideas to facilitate product development.
  • Contact vendors frequently during the new product development process to keep projects on schedule.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating new product development meetings.
  • Compile information such as costs, timeframes, photos, etc. for the product development team.
  • Create documentation such as spreadsheets, checklists, etc. to aid in new product development.
  • When possible, obtain sample products for review.
  • Oversee initial build of new products.
  • Create and input data into the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. 
  • Assist the production supervisors in training for new products.
  • Listen for feedback from the production line and translate that back into the development process.
  • Communicate with production supervisors on manufacturing, technical, safety, or quality issues they are experiencing,  and address those issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate presented production issues to the proper channels (whether to vendors or to Veranda oversight).
  • Draft CAD drawings for the parts fabrication department, and make adjustments to existing drawings when needed.
  • Draft engineering change notices (ECN) and requests (ECR) with proper documentation and ensure information is communicated to all applicable parties.
  • Compile and draft work instructions, training materials, compliance documents, dealer/customer aids, and other  documentation.
  • Water-test new products and warranty/quality projects.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  

EDUCATION & OTHER KSA's:

Adept with Microsoft Office   software suite

Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD   software

Proficient in project management software

Understanding of compliance standards

Understanding of lean manufacturing process

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an ABET accredited university.
