The Opportunity:

WSP’s Property & Buildings M&E Team is currently seeking an Electrical Designer, Buildings M&E to join our Electrical team, located at the Queensview office in Ottawa. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Designer will be responsible for various aspects of the design and drafting of electrical systems with AutoCAD, and Revit 3D modeling services on various Property & Buildings projects. The Electrical Designer would also be required to attend client sites to evaluate existing conditions, as well as review construction progress.

A day in the life:

  • Electrical calculation, design, and installation details for various electrical systems including lighting, small power, power distribution and fire alarm layouts along with single line diagrams and riser distribution;
  • Preparing AutoCAD drawings and Revit 3D modeling for electrical systems;
  • Learning building mechanical engineering requirement, exposure to Ontario Building Code (OBC), ASHRAE, Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), NFPA, and CSA standards for building and site design;
  • Perform individually or as a team member, under direct supervision of engineers and project managers;
  • Other duties as assigned/required

 What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • Degree in a Electrical Engineering program or College Certification for Electrical design including CET;
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member to deliver comprehensive design and meet the deadlines;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit 3D;
  • Ability to perform research tasks and document findings; 
  • Familiarity with software and/or eagerness to learn new software such as ETAP, AGI 32, PVsyst etc. 
  • Interpersonal skills with team members and other engineering disciplines;
  • Enthusiastic, eager to learn, detail oriented, organized, hard worker, and team player attitude;
  • Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
