The Opportunity:
This position is within the Heart Failure division.
This Senior Staff RF Engineer will be primarily working on a system that remotely monitors changes in pulmonary artery (PA) pressure, an early indicator of the onset of worsening heart failure, to aid physicians in preventing worsening heart failure, lower heart failure mortality rates, and improve quality of life for the heart failure patients. The role is within the R&D organization charged with developing and releasing the next generation of components while also supporting the current generation of products.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a team committed to delivering the next generation of heart failure device products to help patients (and their clinicians) manage their heart failure
- Conduct bench and preclinical studies supporting product development teams for concept feasibility and formal regulatory submission
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of heart failure device electronic designs
- Draft test protocols and reports
- Independently plan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project goals
- Support design reviews
- Support the development of risk management documentation
- Gain an understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of the Company, FDA, and ISO regulations
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent experience.
- Experience owning and driving deliverables within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Proficient in collaborating with project stakeholders (client and internal), end-users, business partners, and technical team members
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
- Distilling complex topics into easily digestible content, headlining key points
- RF circuit design aptitude – the ability to translate requirements into circuit designs/specifications (especially in the sub-GHz range)
- Modeling and simulation experience both in the circuit domain as well as free space.
- Proficiency with Comsol/Ansys/HFSS/CST or other similar packages, both in the context of creating new designs as well as debugging issues.
- Demonstrated initiative in going beyond assigned tasks on own agency
- History of applying critical thinking to address design challenges
- Ability to plan, execute, analyze, and document individual scientific studies
- Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data using statistical methods
Preferred Qualifications:
- GPA: 3.0 or higher preferred
- 10+ years’ experience designing, testing, manufacturing or other engineering support
- Medical device experience
- Experience working with an electronic document control system (Windchill, etc.)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a geographically diverse, matrixed organization
