We are looking for a Hardware Engineer! In this role you'll deisgn innovative electronic sensors and control hardware used on autonomous, heavy machinery. If you get excited about designing hardware, this is a very cool opportunity to use your creativity to design complex hardware on a growing, stable team.
In this hands-on position, you'd work on electronic hardware with microprocessor-based controllers, microcontrollers, FPGAs, digital circuit design, PCB layouts, etc. What is unique about this role is taking off-the-shelf parts, then custom designing it to satisfy the needs. You'd be working closely with other hardware engineers in Pittsburgh and the UK.
General Responsibilities
- Design electronics hardware (intristic safe electronic sensors and control hardware)
- Engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team of embedded, robotics, and hardware engineers to formulate and design innovative products
- Technical ownership for the hardware design projects
- Lead architecture, design reviews with internal teams and suppliers
- Lead various aspects of electronic product readiness including manufacturability
- Perform testing and validation of hardware prior to their release
- Up to 10% of travel
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical, Electronics, Computer engineering or relevant
- 8+ years' of experience in Electronics hardware design in at least 2 of the below:
- Design of Low power microprocessor-based controllers
- High speed communication systems and Ethernet-based networks
- Programmable logic design
- Digital circuit design
- Low power analogue circuit design
- Optical/Imaging components and systems
- RF components and systems
Preferred Experience
- Development of complex CPU, FPGA and ASIC based PCBA designs preferred
- With Schematic capture, PCB layout and circuit analysis applications such as OrCAD, SPICE, eCADSTAR, Altium etc.
- Using electronic test equipment such as Logic, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, Digital Oscilloscope, Multimeter etc.
- In the design of autonomous sensors such as lidars, radars, cameras is a plus
- Knowledge of common machine control sensors, actuators, and other typical control devices
- Network, analog and digital design, and computer engineering experience a plus
