The Senior Electrical Engineer Project Leader brings specialized technical expertise to the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and installation of designated equipment as required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive services for the successful installation, startup, and commissioning of packaging equipment, including travel to customer locations when necessary.
- Conduct thorough machine testing and troubleshooting to ensure the certification of packaging equipment for customer acceptance.
- Lead the design and layout of electrical components and systems for packaging equipment.
- Create detailed electrical component schematic designs, panel layouts, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Serve as the electrical lead for projects, coordinating assembly operations during equipment construction.
- Develop and implement control programs for electrical components to ensure the proper function of PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and message displays.
- Assist with customer service calls and provide creative and accurate design solutions.
- Effectively communicate electrical design intent to customers and other departments, ensuring fulfillment of requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve conflicts, address issues, and incorporate suggestions into electrical designs.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and set up parts in the ERP system.
- Maintain electrical documentation and produce timely and detailed reports.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting electrical wiring.
- Possess a solid understanding of packaging machines and processes.
- Mentor entry level team members in their work and development.
- Collaborate with others in electrical engineering group to define and maintain standards such as PLC code, component selection, and operator experience.
- Aid in training of new staff members enabling their onboarding process.
- Support department activities during the occasional absence of Electrical Engineering Manager.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of PLC/HMI programming experience, preferably with Allen Bradley and Siemens systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively convey design concepts.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and basic electronic measuring devices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, Eplan, AutoCAD, and various Viking Masek systems.
- Knowledge of networking and communication hardware and protocols.
- Education equivalent to a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent training and experience.
Preferable Skills:
- 1-5 years of engineering design experience with packaging equipment.
- Proficient in various programming languages, such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Business Hours: Monday through Friday - 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Based on departmental needs. Travel may be required (can be flexible).
