Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer at our Loves Park, IL site.  As a valued member of Danfoss Drives, the Senior Electrical Engineer will lead and participate in the design, documentation, prototype, and test in drives and power conversion

Job Responsibilities

  • Primary focus is on Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) design and mixed-signal Printed Circuit Assembly (PCA) circuit design
  • Design, Simulate, and Test all aspects of the SMPS and the analog and digital circuits
  • Select components for SMPS and analog/digital circuits from approved vendor list and develop custom transformers and inductors as necessary
  • Work closely with ECAD layout personnel to ensure SMPS and analog/digital circuits are laid out for best performance for thermal, parasitic management, and manufacturability
  • Responsible for the preparation of designs, specifications, analysis, and recommendations for development of new products
  • Responsible for the creation of test plans and procedures and for performing the tests related to product development.
  • Maintain records pertinent to each project in the form of time, sketches, drawings, material specifications, and design journals
  • Render technical advice and assistance to other product development personnel as to designs, material specifications, information sources and testing procedures
  • Oversee the operations involved in the construction and testing of prototype products
  • Prepare detailed plans to track project performance and assure timely completion and achievement of quality and savings goals for individual projects.
  • Collaborates with plant Safety, Environmental, Quality, and manufacturing personnel to ensure that manufacturing and facility processes and equipment produce a product that meets all Safety, Environmental, Quality and Engineering standards.
  • Lead a team of power electronics engineers to successfully achieve project goals

Background & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering.  Advanced course work in power electronics or areas relevant to product development is preferable.
  • 5 to 10 years work experience required in areas related to SMPS Design, Analog and Digital Circuit design.
  • Knowledge of Variable frequency drive product design and power conversion equipment.
  • Lab Experience with power supplies, oscilloscopes, meters, function generators and experiment setup and measurement
  • Working knowledge of Computer aided engineering design tools, including MatLab, Pspice, as well as PC based computer equipment and peripherals
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Global mindset and excellent communication skills to efficiently communicate across all levels in the organization.
  • Time management and project management skills to organize and plan effectively in developing effective systems and processes.
