Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer – EV Charging Infrastructure

Department: EV Charging and Hydrogen Refueling

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to lead our electrical vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and implementing EV charging systems, with a deep understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. The ability to manage projects, lead a team, and provide technical expertise is essential. Experience in site lighting or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) work is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage EV charging infrastructure projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Technical Design: Provide expert technical guidance on the design and engineering of EV charging systems, including site selection, electrical distribution, equipment specification, and integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, utility companies, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure that all designs and installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local electrical codes, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in EV charging technology and industry trends and incorporate them into project designs and implementation strategies.
  • Business Development: Support business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities, preparing proposals, and building relationships with potential clients.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience:

o Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on EV charging infrastructure.

o Proven track record in project management and team leadership.

o Experience in site lighting or MEP work is highly desirable.

  • Technical Skills:

o Expertise in electrical codes and standards, including the NEC.

o Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

o Strong understanding of power systems, electrical distribution, and grounding.

o Familiarity with EV charging equipment and protocols (e.g., SAE J1772, CHAdeMO).

  • Soft Skills:

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

o Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
