You’ll create power distribution diagrams, specify electrical equipment, and design lighting systems. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years of experience, and strong communication skills. Preferred experience includes industrial power systems and distributed energy resources.

Locations: Berwyn, PA; Lancaster, PA; Allentown, PA; State College, PA; Mechanicsburg, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; and Uniontown, OH.
This position requires a minimum number of days in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electric power system designs for a variety of projects including water and wastewater facilities, renewable energy facilities, and industrial and commercial facilities.
- Develop power distribution 1-line and three-line diagrams; specify, size, and arrange electrical distribution equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, motor control centers, grounding components, cables, conduits, and raceway systems.
- Develop lighting and lighting control designs.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including drawings, details, schedules, equipment specifications, and reports, related to power distribution systems.
- Apply knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, codes, standards, practices, and procedures within the consulting engineering industry.
- Perform field surveys of existing facilities and systems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure project requirements are met.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical and control systems.
- Provide technical support to clients and team members as needed.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology, or related degree, from an ABET accredited program.
- Minimum six years of experience in electrical or controls engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Conducting research on new technologies and methodologies related to electrical engineering.
- Creating detailed designs and schematics for electrical control systems.
- Evaluating technical specifications and requirements for each project.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and technicians to ensure timely
- Experience with industrial power system design, including medium voltage (up to 69kV) and low voltage (up to 600V) distribution and motor control.
- Experience with motor control center design and specification.
- Experience with power system design for distributed energy resources (solar, battery storage, cogeneration, etc.)
- Experience designing DC power systems, including photovoltaic generation systems and battery energy storage systems.
- Experience performing a variety of electrical studies, including load flow analysis, AC and DC fault analysis, insulation coordination, arc flash evaluation and risk assessment, relay and protective device coordination.
- Experience using electrical design and analysis software, such as: SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower.
- Familiarity with electrical requirements for hazardous (classified) locations.
- Familiarity with protective relaying philosophies and methodologies, as well as modern microprocessor-based equipment (e.g. SEL-651R recloser control relay, SEL-751 feeder protection relay, etc.)
- Capable of coordinating efforts with controls, process, mechanical, and civil engineers to ensure cohesive project design and execution.
- Ability to lead multiple projects, ensuring successful completion within scope, budget, and time constraints.
- Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain reciprocity.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards including NEC, NESC, IEEE, IEC and NFPA.
