Job Description: 

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to provide full-time, on-site support as part of the Defense Health Agency Headquarters’ Engineering Operations team in San Antonio, TX. This role involves the development, acquisition, and execution of large and complex infrastructure repair and modernization projects while ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute large and complex infrastructure projects, including crafting performance work statements (PWS), developing estimates, participating as a technical advisor in source selection boards, and chairing project meetings. 
  • Perform quality assurance and safety compliance visits, design and submittal reviews, and ensure compliance in the installation of infrastructure systems. 
  • Conduct functional testing and commissioning for government acceptance of systems through point-by-point verification of design, installation, functionality, and performance. 
  • Evaluate proposed projects and technical solutions based on need, code compliance, effectiveness, and life cycle cost. 
  • Answer technical Requests for Information (RFIs) in accordance with codes, regulations, and DHA policy and procedures. 
  • Travel to sites to investigate requirement packages, inspect existing conditions of equipment, evaluate maintenance procedures, and confirm operational practices. 
  • Provide comprehensive travel reports detailing observations, findings, and recommendations in a consumable manner for non-engineers. 
  • Mentor junior engineers by providing technical reviews, supervision, and guidance to ensure their development in fieldwork and compliance with engineering procedures and DHA policies. 

Requirements

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 
  • Demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years practical experience in the healthcare field. 
  • Demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of practical experience in design and consulting. Practical experience is defined as having the direct responsibility of execution for design, construction, major, repair, or management of electrical physical plant/infrastructure systems supporting institutional, industrial, or medical healthcare campuses. This practical experience must be recent, within the past six (6) months and span over the preceding three (3) out of the last four (4) years. The expectation of this position is to possess the expertise and experience to resolve complex problems that his/her contemporaries cannot resolve.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert level skills and extensive practical experience in all aspects of the interior, exterior and electrical power generation fields necessary to accurately analyze plans, data, designs, operations and maintenance practices and the management thereof.
  • Possess extensive skill in electrical theory and practical applications in order to develop accurate estimates and makes sound recommendations for repairs, sustainment and optimization of building electrical infrastructure systems.
  • Knowledgeable of local, municipal, and federal building codes, criteria, and standards.
  • Have strong interpersonal, communicative, diplomatic, and analytical skills to provide highly professional quality presentations to executive leadership and large audiences.
  • Current Registered Professional Engineering License in field of electrical engineering 

Salary: 

Compensation is based on skills and experience.
