POSITION PURPOSE:

Design and develop industrial, domestic, and commercial electrical systems with good design experience and knowledge in low and medium voltage systems, power generation systems and microgrid systems. Striving for excellence, innovative, detail-oriented, and analytical. Interact with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, and fellow engineers every day to produce required coordinated construction documents. Responsible for writing coordinated specifications, drawings, schematics, diagrams, and details satisfying client’s requirements, codes and other disciplines. Performing feasibility studies, and life cycle costs, for industrial, domestic, and commercial technical developments. Excellent understanding of customer expectations and deliverables and the desire to produce good quality products. Budgets, and controls project budgets. Supervise staff assigned to him/her.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review RFP, and understand how to approach project execution.
  • Reviews supplier submittals conforming with laid down specifications
  • Develop, prepare, check and coordinate designs, drawings per applicable standards and codes.
  • Review and coordinate vendor submittals to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Review and response to RFI.
  • Prepare and oversee electrical power system design documents and develop single line diagrams, short circuit analysis, wiring and elementary diagrams along with layout and circuitry design.
  • Prepare electrical specifications.
  • Prepare supporting documents along with wire list plus BOM’s.
  • Prepare Energy Calculations and Permit documentation.
  • Prepare Estimates and bids on projects.
  • Taking ideas from the initial design stage through to the construction process.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time within the specified budget, construction, and engineering.
  • Maintaining and developing their personal engineering skills and knowledge.
  • Perform load calculations and Arc Flash Hazard Studies.
  • Perform Lighting design and Photometric Studies.
  • Supervise and mentor the junior engineers and Interns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an ABET institution
  • 5 -10 Years Experience
  • Has a PE license from one or more states.
  • Experience in Commercial Facilities, Retail Facilities, Industrial Facilities, Educational Facilities, Municipal Facilities, Government Facilities, Healthcare Facilities, High Rise Facilities, Transportation Facilities, DATA Centers, Utilities Generation & Distribution

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented time managers with the ability to meet deadlines and focus on project schedules
  • Knowledge of electrical, lighting, energy, lightning, safety, communications, and building codes
  • Proficient in the use of Revit, AutoCAD and Electrical Design software. (SKM, EZPower COMCheck EZ, etc.)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Understand electrical theories and concepts
  • Understand Arc Flash Hazard Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work generally conducted indoors in an office setting with occasional travel to project sites but may serve as a Field Engineer during construction.
