SRI International's Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD) conducts innovative research and development in a wide range of disciplines, from hardware security and mixed-signal integrated circuits to novel optoelectronic materials and quantum sensing. We are attacking leading-edge challenges by inventing new technologies, developing prototypes, and constructing fieldable systems. Our work extends from basic scientific exploration to applications vital for national security. For example, in our DARPA SHIELD program we developed and demonstrated a system for protecting military electronic systems from the threat of counterfeit components using a hardware-based solution that combined a custom CMOS ASIC implementing 256-bit AES encryption, dual-channel microwave interrogator hardware communicating with the IC’s on-chip antennas, and a secure database stored on cloud-based servers.
Our SRI campus in Princeton NJ has an immediate opening for a Research Electrical Engineer. This creative and energetic individual will conduct state-of-the-art research within ATSD to support the growth of our programs in electronic system design, CMOS devices, and hardware security. The right candidate will possess a strong technical background in electronic hardware and CMOS devices, and will be able to innovate and thrive in a fast-paced research environment. Activities will be very hands-on, operating over a variety of projects, many of them related to national security.
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering. Recent graduates are welcome to apply, while industry experience is also a plus.
Due to government requirements, U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a DOD Security Clearance is required.
Solid technical knowledge in electronic device physics and mixed-signal electronic circuits and systems.
Familiarity with physical measurements and laboratory instrumentation.
Knowledge of electromagnetics.
A “hacker” mentality to anticipate and defend against hardware security threats.
Programming experience for analysis, simulation, and instrumentation, e.g. with MATLAB, C++, Python, LabVIEW.
Modeling and computer-aided design experience, e.g. with COMSOL, HFSS, SolidWorks.
The salary range is: $98,631 -$146,713. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles.
