Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 


 



  • Ability to lead the Primary Design (Concept, FEED , Detail Design) for AIS/GIS/Hybrid Substations upto 400kV – for Utility Companies /Developers, based on international standards – for, UK, Europe, Middle East , South East Asia or Australia regions. Experience in Design of HV/LV Distribution systems for Oil & Gas Sector , offshore Substation,  Thermal power plants, Hydropower generation, Solar , Wind, BESS projects will be an added advantage.

  • Good understanding of Secondary system requirements needed for preparation of Key SLD, Protection & Control SLDs, AC/DC SLDs, LVAC System design, preparation of control / protection / Interlocking block diagrams, review of schematics, preparation of cable schedule, Interconnection Schedule 

  • In depth knowledge and ability to perform all calculations required as part of Substation Primary Engineering : Sag tension, SCF, conductor sizing, Earthing, Lightning protection, Indoor/ Outdoor / Street lighting, CT/VT sizing, Battery sizing 

  • Good understanding of Substation Automation System (SAS), SCADA I/O List, Schematics and Architecture 

  • Perform Equipment sizing calculations e.g. Transformer, Generator, HV/LV Cables, AC UPS, Capacitor Banks

  • Apply  broad practical knowledge to design of Layouts – Equipment Layouts for outdoor switchyard, indoor substation, trench/tray layouts, lighting, earthing and lightning protection layouts, EKD,  (Should be able to guide/provide inputs to technicians and review from a technical/quality perspective).

  • Prepare technical specifications, technical data sheets for Electrical Equipment – Transformers, DG Sets, AIS/GIS/Hybrid Switchgear, Cable, UPS, Battery Charger, Distribution Boards.

  • Preparation and evaluations of Technical Bid/documentation

  • Review of vendor drawings for various Electrical Equipment including review of schematics for HV/LV systems.

  • Preparation of Tender documents , BOQ for construction 

  • Ability to review of Contractor’s design documentation as part of PMC/Owner’s engineer 

  • Reasonably good understanding and hands on experience of System Studies software (ETAP), ability to model electrical system, carry out basic studies viz. load flow, short circuit, motor starting studies and interpret results will be an added advantage

  • Ability to carry out inter discipline coordination and coordinate effectively with Lead office

  • Duties may include extended, but temporary, out-of-town assignments


 


Candidate Specification:


 



  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited university.

  • Core experience shall be Primary Design of Substations (Concept, FEED, Detail Design) for AIS/GIS/Hybrid Substations upto 400KV. Experience with Utility companies based in for, UK, Europe, Middle East , South East Asia or Australia regionsUK/Europe/Middle east  will be preferred.  Experience in Electrical design for Oil & Gas Sector , offshore Substation,  Thermal power plants, Hydropower generation, Solar , Wind, BESS projects will be an added advantage.

  • Ability to interpret the scope, identify deliverables based on Tender / RFP documents 

  • Ability to work independently with lead office as part of integrated team,  

  • Ability to lead medium /large scale projects, manage/supervise a team to ensure timely project delivery 

  • Ability to Line manage viz. mentor a pool of junior engineers and technicians to develop skills and bring in efficiency within the team.

  • Demonstrates a fair understanding of project commercials - cost monitoring and timely flagging of variations 

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities viz. Line Management, resource planning, recruitment, skill gap /training needs identification etc. alongside Project delivery 

  • Demonstrates the flexiblity to work hands-on in preparation of deliverables, based on  project needs/exigencies 

  • Conversant in Electrical design software – Dialux, ETAP

  • Computer literacy in MS office-and basic knowledge of AUTOCAD/BIM 360/ACC, Navisworks for review of 3D Modelsling Software like Revit is essential

  • Strong communication skills - written and oral

  • Self-motivated individual with keen interest to add value to the team/organisation 

  • Ability to prepare fee estimates / proposals 

  • Inclination to use Technology to bring in innovative solutions 

  • Ability  to foster awareness of H&S practices, share best practices by encouraging knowledge sharing sessions within /across team
