SUMMARY:


NPD Electrical Engineer helps build, develop, test, & install prototype equipment including products such as but not limited to dispensers and other new machines using a combined knowledge of electrical, mechanical, fluid systems, and problem-solving.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:



  • Takes directives from NPD management to design, build and develop prototype machines.

  • Travels on occasion to install machinery, assist in installations, and support field trials.

  •  Creates drawings, schematics, flow diagrams, and records of test data collected, as a design evolves.

  • Provide technical support to other colleagues regarding mechanical design, fabrication, testing or documentation.

  • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, or drawings. Offer suggestions as alternatives become apparent.

  • Troubleshoot installation issues both by phone and onsite.

  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: 



  • 2 or more years previous experience in electrical design/troubleshooting and assembly

  • High level of technical expertise.

  • Possess good work ethic, self-motivation, and passion to drive business outcomes.

  • Must have strong critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Must have the ability to work with minimal direction but as a team player within an organization.

  • Ability to apply solid mechanical concepts to existing and new products with a strong attention to detail.

  • Communicate well in writing and verbally with other co-workers and customer representatives

  • 3D CAD Skills, Autodesk Inventor experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Willing to become familiar with and adhere to NSF standards and typical municipal codes regarding dispensers.

  • Able to travel on short notice


EDUCATION: Degree in Engineering or equivalent verified tenure of related study or job experience. 


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to convey technical information to non-technical people.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Candidate must have intermediate to advanced math skills to include algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus, and able to use these skills in a practical way while designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting prototypes.


REASONING ABILITY: Candidate must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Candidate must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Safety glasses and shoes are required while working in the production area. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the lab to moderately loud when working on the production floor.
