We are seeking Spring/Summer 2025 New Grad Electrical Engineers.

This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position performs research, development, calculations, design and delivery in partnership with the project team. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

Responsibilities Include:
• Assist in designing elements of engineering for transmission and distribution of electrical power including power transformation, switchgear, battery systems and substation controls, relay protection and automation systems with a specialty application for transportation systems.
• Assist in designing of system lighting, grounding, passenger stations, rail yards, airports, maintenance facilities, signal power and utility power interfaces including load flow studies, short circuit studies and arc flash analysis.
• Becoming familiar with applicable electrical standards and codes for industrial and commercial design (examples: National Electrical Code, NFPA Standards, IEEE 3000 Standards Collection).
• Preparing designs, reports and studies for industrial power system improvements, capital projects and for various transportation projects from feasibility through final design and construction.
• Perform electrical calculations such as voltage drop, conduit fill, cable ampacity, available fault current, wire/conduit sizing, overcurrent protection selection and reviewing equipment specifications.
• Providing code compliance reviews and finding solutions to meet the needs of clients.
• Performing site visits to document existing electrical power systems and equipment conditions.

What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Supports the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
  • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
  • Supports engineering teams with various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

What You'll Bring:

  • An understanding of electrical engineering principles relevant to commercial/industrial designs.
  • A strong background in software such as Microsoft (word, excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with drafting software.

What We Prefer:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Modeling experience with Power System Software (examples: eTap, SKM, PowerWorld)
  • Knowledgeable in drafting software (examples: Autodesk REVIT, AutoCAD, Microstation)
  • Interest in infrastructure and design

The approximate pay range for Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA is $72,687.98 - $109,031.98. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
