Job Description

AECOM is looking for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer with an electrical engineering or instrumentation & controls background to work on various planning, design, and construction projects for AECOM and the Orange County Sanitation District (OC SAN). This will be a hybrid role based part-time at AECOM’s Orange County office and OC SAN Headquarters in Fountain Valley, California.

The individual in this position must have a proven ability to execute water/wastewater engineering projects, encourage a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other engineering disciplines, and identify problems, analyze information, and develop sound recommendations. This individual will act as a Project Manager and Project Engineer/technical lead, interfacing with AECOM and OC SAN design and construction teams, as well as Operations and Maintenance departments. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Familiarity with OC SAN procedures is highly desirable but not required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Project Manager and/or lead engineer on small- to mid-size projects.
  • Coordinates multi-discipline design effort.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on small to medium-sized projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related engineering field and 6 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering and design, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting required. or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in California, or able to obtain same in six months after hiring
  • Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with CAD and design software.
