Job Description:

The Commercial Aviation team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for the purpose of airborne cockpit displays & touch screen product development and support.

The Commercial Aviation team is seeking a motivated full-time Display and Touchscreen Engineer to support the successful development, verification, and production of avionics display systems by evaluating relevant technologies, manufacturing processes and implementing system-level tests.

Essential Functions:
• Provide customer and factory level support and guidance on display and touchscreen avionics products.
• Participate in and/or conduct technology evaluations; emerging display and touchscreen suitability & associated advancements or discoveries.
• Setup and conduct optical tests and collect data under various environmental conditions.
• Specifying display & touchscreens; optical & environmental performance, electrical interfaces, defect acceptability
• Modify & ruggedize COTS displays to meet requirements. This includes backlight designs, selection & implementation of various optical components including night vision compatible and compliant components, specification of surface treatments such as AG, AR & AF, bonding techniques of various display and touchscreen components.
• Product validation
• Participate/lead failure analysis and corrective action activity related to display and touchscreen products.
• Work closely with other engineering disciplines to produce cost effective products
• Good teamwork and people skills. Ability to closely with and support other engineers, technical staff, operations and vendors.
• Responsible for performing job duties consistent with L3Harris Ethics, Financial, Health and Safety Standards.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors in Electrical, Aerospace, Software, or Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 8 years related experience OR
• Masters in Electrical, Aerospace, Software, or Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 6 years related experience.
• Experience in electrical engineering and familiarity with displays and integration of displays to a processing system.
• Ability to specify displays and display optical components to achieve desired performance.
• Knowledge in touch screen technologies and their integration with LCDs.
• Understanding of technologies, materials, processes, and equipment used in optical bonding within displays and touchscreens.
• Strong data analysis capabilities and ability to concisely present results.

Preferred Additional Skills:
• Strong physics background with a solid grasp of optics and materials
• Familiarity with avionics documents associated with displays; AS8034B, DO-275, MIL-STD-3009, SAE/AS-7788, MIL-DTL-7788G
• Experience in characterizing display technologies (MEMS, LCD, OLED, LED, etc.)
• Experience with display calibration
• Familiarity with display measurement equipment (cameras, spectrometers, spectroradiometers, colorimeters, photodiode detectors, etc.)
• Hands-on, "roll-up-the-sleeves" approach
