Our Winslow, ME office has a Lead Electrical Engineer opportunity available. This position will lead the substation electrical/physical design within the electrical power engineering team for WM customers primarily in the Electric Utility market.  Projects will range in size, complexity, and voltage (120V to 345kV).


Responsibilities include:



  • Engineering and design lead from project conception through execution

  • Develop detailed estimates, proposals, and schedules

  • Develop conceptual designs and detailed designs

  • Develop power one lines and phasing diagrams

  • Develop control enclosure layouts, elevations, and details

  • Develop substation yard layouts and elevations

  • Develop conduit plans and details

  • Develop grounding plans and details

  • Develop lighting plans and details

  • Develop outage plans and construction sequencing plans

  • Develop customer-specific equipment and construction specifications

  • Perform necessary calculations for ground grid design, lightning protection, AC/DC station service sizing, interior and exterior lighting layout designs, conduit fill, cable tray fill, etc

  • Communicate effectively with clients, project management, and other engineering disciplines

  • Perform quality reviews for other engineers and designers

  • Apply NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA, ISO, NERC, OSHA, and other organization’s regulations and standards in the provided designs and installations

  • Lead and mentor junior staff and engineering and design efforts



    Other Responsibilities include:



    • Support business development and marketing initiatives

    • Provide field support during construction

    • 3D modeling/design

    • Industry/professional technical committee involvement


     Requirements:



    1. Education – A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology is required.

    2. Experience – 10+ years of Electrical T&D and/or Physical Substation Engineering experience is required. Significant experience in Project Management and/or Construction Management is preferred. Registered PE or the ability to become licensed is desired.

    3. Skills – Strong computing skills, such as MS Project, Word, Excel, PPT, etc. Proficient in AutoCad.  Knowledge of design software, such as WinIGS, CDEGS, Visual Lighting Software, etc. is preferred.

    4. Travel - ability to travel up to 20%.


    Physical Demands of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing, listening, clear speech, dexterity in hands.  Ability to perform the minimum requirements and meet deadlines as required.


    Working Conditions Hybrid mix of standard office environment and work-from-home: frequent use of personal computer, facsimiles, copy machines, and other office equipment.  The ability to travel for client/project needs is strongly preferred.
