Ideally, this role will be based at Akaysha's Portland, OR Office. We'd also consider our Houston, TX office as an alternate location.

General Manager, Battery Systems Engineering
The role:
As a Junior Engineer within the Battery Systems Engineering team, you will support BESS and PCS technology selection and procurement, maintain and improve internal tools and datasets, and provide cross-pillar technical support. Your work will play a key role in Akaysha Energy’s large project portfolio. The team is currently undertaking several ambitious initiatives that will significantly improve Akaysha's approach to procurement and OEM selection. This role will contribute to these efforts through frequent supplier engagement and making strong improvements to internal systems and tools.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Meeting with potential suppliers and conducting technical due diligence on their products
- Maintenance of supplier database to track product roadmaps, technical specs, pricing, and performance guarantees
- Develop dashboards and other tools for product and project data visualization
- Maintenance of BESS and PCS inputs for internal design and analysis tools
- Investigate electrical and technical requirements for generation projects in new emerging international markets particularly throughout USA, Europe, and Asia.
- Support the Development team with supplier selection according to project requirements and product road maps
- Support the competitive bidding process between suppliers, building cost models to track and compare pricing
- Support the Commercial team with review of supply and service agreements for BESS and PCS procurement
- Support the Delivery team as BESS- and PCS-specific RFIs arise during construction and commissioning
- Support the Asset Management team as BESS- and PCS-specific questions arise during operations and maintenance.
- Occasional visits to sites on a project needs basis to oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment.
- Actively promote and ensure health and safety through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.

What you'll bring:
- BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, or Power Systems Engineering
- 1+ years' experience in a generation, renewables, transmission, or distribution electrical engineering role
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering systems, calculations, application of engineering methods and materials.
- Preferably experience and proven knowledge of primary and secondary electrical systems.
- Preferably experience working on energy storage systems, renewable energy projects or transmission system design and delivery.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within a small, fast-paced team, demonstrating adaptability, critical decision-making, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
