The Core Operating Systems (Core OS) team is responsible for the foundational software used in Apple’s most iconic and beloved products. We’re looking for a talented Embedded Software Engineer to join the Always On Platform Systems team. This team is uniquely positioned to contribute to all Apple products and has a wide range of responsibilities including: pre-silicon software development, hardware bringup, sensor driver development and integration, as well as future framework and feature development for the Always On technology area. The team also has oversight responsibilities in architecture, compute and memory resourcing, and cross functional feature deployment. The ideal candidate must possess a genuine passion for hardware/software integration, software quality, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across teams. Description

Responsibilities: Design, develop, and test embedded software for low-power, resource-constrained environments. Optimize code for performance, power consumption, and memory footprint. Collaborate with silicon and hardware engineers to define and implement system-level capabilities. Contribute to the architecture and design of the Always-On platform. Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues in a real-world context. Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices. Work closely with other teams across Apple to integrate your work seamlessly into the broader ecosystem. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in embedded systems technology.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent skills/experience.
  • Proven experience in embedded software development.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Familiarity with hardware architectures (ARM preferred).
  • Solid Hardware and Software debugging skills.
  • Understanding of common peripheral buses (SPI/I2C/USB)
  • Experience with sensor integration.
  • Knowledge of Apple platforms and technologies.
