JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are searching an Electrical Engineering Designer to join our Mechanical and Electrical Design & Drafting Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL’s purpose is to develop innovative solutions to challenging national problems in support of the Navy, DoD, and Intel communities engineering and technology needs. This position will facilitate the design and manufacture of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) in support of ARL’s research offices.

You will:
Support basic / intermediate research utilizing PCB software
Create basic / intermediate schematics, PCBs, assemblies, library parts, bills of materials, and other documentation
Create drawing formats, notes, and manufacturing information
Assist in material selection, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing analysis
Provide work status updates to senior personnel
Participate in design review meetings as requested
Perform tasks related to documentation control, copying, filing, and database entry
Respond to requests for information from purchasing and manufacturing teams
This position will be filled at the professional or intermediate professional level, depending upon the candidate’s education and experience. Typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher in a Drafting or related discipline and 1+ years of experience , or an equivalent combination of education and experience for the professional level. Additional experience and/or experience required for higher level positions.
Required experience areas include:
Familiarity with electronic circuits and components, preferably analog and digital design
Layout and design using PCB software for component creation, schematic layout, and PCB design; Altium preferred but not required
Documentation of design, manufacturing, component placement, and parts lists
Design Configuration Management (CM) using a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software (Teamcenter preferred) is a plus
Certification or familiarization with IPC standards is a plus
Preferred experience in Microsoft Office and Adobe products
These positions are required to be 100% on-site, but options may exist for a hybrid work from office and work from home scenario dependent upon research requirements.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$46,400.00 - $74,000.00Salary Structure - additional information on Penn State's job and salary structure.
